Ken and Roe

That’s us!

Ken and Rosemary (or Roe to most) moved to Kiama in July 2014, recently retired with the energy to serve for as long as our days and energy allows. Married in August 2012 we have very different stories. Here they are:

Ken Kitchin

Ken, born in England but as an infant transported to Australia (with his parents). Initially settling in Melbourne for formative education, grew up as a PK (preacher’s kid) moving to Wollongong as a teenager.  Lived in Wollongong and undertook training and education at “the steelworks” as did many at the time.  After initially training as an electrician moved into personnel management which set up the rest of his working career, initially in BHP and subsequently in the utilities industry on the NSW South Coast and then in the ACT as an Human Resources Manager.

Outside of the work environment Ken and his first wife Judy were involved in leadership in local churches in Wollongong and later in Canberra.  During the 1990’s becoming involved in Christian Literature Distribution. Ken served as president of the Christian Bookselling Association and in the later noughties an HR role with CLC Australasia.  Ken’s extensive experience is underpinned by post graduate qualifications in management and a diploma in biblical studies.  Living for a while throws up challenges, Ken has experienced loss of a teenage son (in a motor cycle accident) and losing his first wife to cancer.

Very passionate about coaching, mentoring and supporting people in ministry Ken is open to be a listener and share experience and Christian perspective as appropriate.  With Roe he looks forward to supporting those God draws to our place.

Rosemary Kitchin

Born in Brisbane, Roe started life as most females in her vintage, as a primary school teacher. After 9 years in the classroom and 3 years as an educational researcher she stepped into private enterprise starting a journey that took her to Sydney and London experiencing many different enterprises and sectors. Having a love of learning she has completed a Bachelor of Education, a Masters of Business majoring in Marketing and a Grad. Dip in Social Impact (and its not over yet!). After a church upbringing she backslid after high school but became a Christian in 1992 at St Barnabas Broadway. Her walk has been rich and blessed, with worship at HTB in London and Ruach on Sydney’s Northern Beaches before joining Ken at Mosaic Canberra and now Kiama Anglican.

On the home front, Roe loves to cook with not every attempt rating a MKR score! Whilst her FB addressbook doesn’t match Kylie Monogue’s she does enjoy networking and keeping in touch with the amazing number of  individuals who have crossed her path through life.

She lives to serve and loves every day.
